No listing fee, no photo fee, no “featured” paywall. We take 12% plus VAT of what the guest pays — and nothing at all if the stay never happens.

Safety is a listing feature, not a footnote
Every HimaGo house is walked by a person before it goes live. In a country of stone steps, wood chimneys and houses at 3,600 m, the things we ask about are the things that decide whether a guest sleeps well or has a bad night.
Structure and fire
- Post-2015 seismic look: ring beam present, no fresh cracks over doorheads, unreinforced masonry written down rather than hidden.
- One extinguisher per two guest rooms, in date; escape route posted inside the room, in Nepali and English.
- Chimney and flue swept before the heating season. Open-hearth houses show their kitchen as it actually is.
Power and light
- Switched sockets with USB where the load allows; no daisy-chained extension leads in a bedroom.
- Inverter or solar bank sized to carry lights, phone charging and the fridge through a six-hour cut.
- Stair lighting switched at both ends, plus a night light on any nosing you'd trip on at 2 a.m.
Water and heat
- Hot water tested at the hour a guest would really need it, with the method stated — solar only, geyser, or boiler.
- Drinking water: filtered, boiled or sealed, written honestly. Piped spring supply says so, and so does the taste.
- Room heaters working; above 2,000 m we publish the overnight temperature so nobody packs for Pokhara in Dhunche.
Altitude and help
- Above 2,600 m: the clinic with distance and opening hours, an oxygen cylinder on site or a named plan to get one.
- Acute-mountain-sickness card in every room, in both languages, with the descent rule printed on it.
- Emergency card carries the ward chair, the police post and the nearest neighbour — guests get all three numbers.

Questions hosts actually ask
Homestays under ten rooms register with the ward and the District Industry Development Office rather than the DoT; guesthouses, resorts and rafting camps do need DoT registration. We help you file, and a house in progress shows “licence in process” — no fake badge, and no delisting.
