What a teahouse night actually includes above Namche

The rate is half-board. The stove is shared. Pack for that, not for a lodge brochure.

Stone teahouse on a ridge above Namche

A teahouse on the Everest trail is a family kitchen with rooms off it. Dinner is dal bhat or noodle soup, breakfast is porridge or Tibetan bread, and the wood stove in the dining room is where you sit because the bedroom will be cold.

HimaGo listings that say half-board mean dinner and breakfast are in the nightly rate. Bottled water, a hot shower token and beer are extra — and the host will tell you the rupee price, not a dollar guess.
