On Nepal's second-highest point in the middle hills; Langtang to Dhaulagiri, all at once
Daman was once a palace viewpoint for the Rana family and then nothing for forty years. The lodge is five rooms in a rebuilt stone schoolhouse; the owner, Hasti, ran kitchens on Annapurna expeditions for two decades and does the same thing here on a small stove with a pot that never quite empties.
On a clear morning the view is 360 km of Himalaya — Langtang to Dhaulagiri, and on a February day, Kangchenjunga too, which is absurd for a place 60 km from Kathmandu. On a hazy day, you're in cloud with tea and a very good dal bhat. Everyone who comes up here is gambling on the sky, and the odds are decent.

Altitude
2,134 m: the walk up leaves you puffing but is fine for sleeping; the cold at night is not altitude, it's just cold.
Hot water
Bucket, heated on the stove on request. It works; it's an experience; solar backs it up in the afternoons.
Power
Solar + battery, lights and charging till 22:00, generator at 18:00–20:00 for the kitchen.
Wi-Fi
4 Mbps satellite from a small dish; text works, video calls are a daily negotiation at 07:00.
Weather
Cloud sits on this ridge most afternoons from 11:00. Sleep over for the 06:00 view rather than day-tripping.

You walk up. That's the whole listing and the whole point. Hasti cooked a dal bhat on a small stove that made us quiet for ten minutes, and on the second morning the entire range appeared in cloud for twenty minutes and we watched eight people in down jackets say nothing. Bucket hot water, cold nights, perfect.
Things to know
House rules
The stove is for everyone; the fire is not to be built up after 22:00.
No loudspeakers, no drones (paragliding lane overhead).
Bring your own refillable bottle if you can — water from the spring is excellent, and the lodge is plastic-free.
Dinner at 19:30; the kitchen closes at 20:30 and cannot be re-lit.
If you're coming in snow or heavy rain, tell Hasti first. He'd rather say no than have you stuck.
