About this place
Four rooms on the Sedu cliff, each with a balcony aimed at Machhapuchhre's reflection
Bikash left a chef's job in Kathmandu and came home to build four rooms on the slope his family owned above the lake. The house is stone and local sal wood, with big glass, deep windowsills, and a breakfast menu that reads like a Thakali kitchen: rice, two dals, gundruk ko jhol, achar, bamboo shoots in spring.
The lake is below you, so the reflection shot works at first light when the water is flat and the paragliders are still walking their wings up Sarangkot. Ask for a 05:40 tea on your balcony and you will get it.

- Flight from Kathmandu22 min to Pokhara International; taxi 15 min from the new airport (NPR 1,200). In fog season flights divert — the villa will rebook you and drive.
- Tourist bus7–8 h; get off at Bagar and Bikash sends the jeep up (free, 6 min).

The reflection at 06:20, tea brought to the balcony without asking, a Thakali dinner that silenced four people at the table, and a kayak for three mornings. Bikash also talked us out of booking a 'famous' Lakeside restaurant and saved us money and a bad evening.

Stayed with family for three nights over Maghe Sankranti. 66 steps is real — my father used the chair lift plan Bikash arranged, which I did not expect from a homestay. Rooms are spotless, hot water never ran out, and the price with the weekly discount beat any Lakeside hotel with the same view. Will be back in October.

Perfect in every way except the rain: we were there in monsoon and saw the mountain on two days of five. Bikash's honesty about the season is why I'd book again — he said this up front and gave the 20% July discount. The rooms are lovely and the Wi-Fi actually works for calls.
Things to know
House rules
- No amplified music on the balconies after 21:30 — the valley carries sound over water.
- Wear the life jacket on the kayak and stay inside the yellow buoys; the lake has a wind line that appears from nowhere at 17:00.
- Slippers for the indoor area; beach shoes for the steps down to the water.
- Please don't feed the lake fish or gulls.
- Dinner orders by 17:00; the Thakali kitchen cooks in portions, not to order.
