About this place
Newari-Tirole hybrid on the prairie ridge; cars banned, cows on the main street
The lodge is a 1920s merchant house rebuilt in 2016 by a Japanese-trained Nepali architect who kept the brick, replaced the roof structure with engineered timber and put glass where the old grain-store was. Four rooms, one long gallery, a deck that gets the first pink on Dhaulagiri.
Bandipur works because the town said no to the highway — the new road goes through a tunnel below, and the old Newari street stayed a street with cows on it. Come for two nights minimum; one night means you arrive at dusk and leave before the light does anything.

- Kathmandu → Pokhara highwayGet off at Dumre, then 12 km up. 4–5 h total by private car (NPR 11,000) or 6 h by bus + local jeep.
- BusDumre has every Pokhara bus; a local jeep to Bandipur is NPR 200, 25 min, and takes your bag.
- CarsNo cars in the old town — park at the new bus park and walk 8 min down the stone steps. The lodge sends someone for luggage.

Midweek in February, two nights, Dhaulagiri every morning from the deck, and the mother's achar is what reviews are written about. Cars banned in town means you walk in from the bus park — 8 min of steps, so pack light. Prices in Pokhara for worse.

- Respect the temples on the street — don't sit on the temple steps or photograph priests mid-ritual.
